How does PDF date sorting work?
The tool reads selectable text from each PDF, detects common written and numeric date formats, and orders the documents by the best date match. You can review or change every date before merging.
Can I drop a folder with nested folders?
Yes, in browsers that support folder drag and drop. You can also use Choose folder. Non-PDF files are ignored.
What happens when no date is detected?
That PDF is placed at the end and highlighted for review. Add its date manually, or leave it at the end of the merged document.
Can I add a summary page before the merged PDFs?
Yes. Create a basic document index entirely in your browser, or explicitly opt in to an AI-organized statement with editable metadata, table rows, totals, and a closing note. The reviewed summary is placed before the source PDFs.
Are the folder or PDFs uploaded?
Original PDF files are never uploaded. Date extraction, sorting, cover-page rendering, and merging run locally. If you explicitly enable AI summary processing, filenames, dates, and extracted text are sent through the localpdf.store backend to OpenAI; the UI asks for consent first.
